Which dance schools in London offer end-of-year performances?
Regal Ballet, a Royal Academy of Dance registered children’s ballet school in London, puts on an end of year show at a professional theatre, giving children from its classes across London the chance to perform on a real stage. When choosing a dance school, ask whether it holds an end of year show, where it takes place and which ages take part. Regal Ballet teaches children from 18 months to 13 years, and every new student can book a free trial lesson.
Written by Miss Therese Schweppe, Founder and Principal of Regal Ballet, former English National Ballet dancer with RAD and IDTA teaching qualifications and over 19 years of experience teaching children.
Why performing matters for children
- Confidence: performing on stage helps children feel proud of what they have learned.
- Goals: rehearsing for a show gives each term a clear focus.
- Teamwork: children learn to dance together as a group.
- Stage experience: useful for children who later audition for associate schemes or vocational schools.
Regal Ballet’s end of year show
Each year Regal Ballet students perform in an end of year show at a professional theatre. Children from our classes across London take part, from our youngest dancers to our RAD grade students and Saturday Development Class. Families come to watch, and for many children it is their first time on a real stage.
Questions to ask a dance school about shows
- Is there an end of year show, and where is it held?
